Low Carb Prosciutto Wrapped Shrimp

A quick, easy recipe that will be the talk of your Mother's Day gathering. These prosciutto wrapped shrimp with Mama Mia Sauce are the ultimate Italiano flavor blast using AlternaSweets Classic Ketchup.

Bacon wrapped shrimp are tasty but sometimes the bacon just doesn't crisp up or by the time it does your shrimp are vaporized. Prosciutto cooks up quick and crispy and your shrimp will be plump and delicious every time. With the addition of fresh basil this will be a recipe you make more than once for sure.

After peeling the shrimp and cleaning them we season the shrimp with some Italian seasoning and garlic salt then toss the shrimp with a drizzle of olive oil. Next pluck a few leaves of fresh basil out of the garden and wrap up the shrimp with thinly sliced prosciutto. Make sure your prosciutto is cold because it's much easier to work with when wrapping the shrimp.

The shrimp can be baked at 425 degrees F for about 10-12 minutes or take the shrimp outside and grill them up hot about 4 minutes per side. Just as the shrimp finish cooking brush on a little AlternaSweets Classic ketchup mixed with balsamic vinegar for an amazing finishing glaze.

Low carb Prosciutto Wrapped Shrimp


 

  • 1 pound jumbo shrimp
  • 8 oz sliced prosciutto
  • 16-20 basil leaves (one for each shrimp)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ tsp garlic salt
  • 2 tbsp AlternaSweets Classic Ketchup
  • 2 tsp Balsamic Vinegar
  1. Peel and clean shrimp leaving on the tail, season shrimp with Parmesan, Italian seasoning and garlic salt.
  2. Lay out a strip of prosciutto cutting it in half lengthwise
  3. Using the half slice of prosciutto wrap a leaf of basil around the shrimp
  4. Bake the shrimp at 425 degrees F for 10-12 minutes or take the shrimp outside and grill them up hot about 4 minutes per side.

  5. Just as the shrimp finish cooking brush on a little AlternaSweets Classic ketchup mixed with balsamic vinegar for an amazing finishing glaze.

Mama Mia Sauce

  Low carb shrimp sauce
  • 3/4 cup Mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp AlternaSweets Classic Ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Parmesan Cheese
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 tsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ tsp crushed red chili flakes (optional)
  1. Combine all ingredients and whisk until smooth.
